Discover in the forest in the Yonne in Burgundy, a vast construction site to build a 13\u1d49 century castle. A visit to Gu\u00e9delon gives you the chance to observe many workers building the castle<\/strong> using the techniques of the past and the materials used in the Middle Ages<\/strong>: quarrymen, stonecutters, masons, lumberjacks, carpenters, blacksmiths, tile-makers, wicker makers, tailors<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A construction site, started in 1997 in the forest of Gu\u00e9delon<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The site is an experimental archaeology site<\/strong> to better understand how castles were built in medieval times. In order to build this castle, research and numerous observations were made in other existing castles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors have the opportunity to see how the process of building a castle<\/strong> works and to discover ancestral know-how and forgotten techniques. The site is located in the Yonne in a forest of Burgundy. It was designed to offer visitors the opportunity to discover what it was like to build medieval fortresses<\/strong>, but also to go back in time and understand how they were built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Guedelon project was launched in 1997. Since 1998, the site of Guedelon is open to the public. During their visit, the holidaymakers will be able to understand the ancestral knowledge<\/strong>: extraction of stones, assembly, carpentry, manufacture of tiles, lifting, etc. The workers are eager to share their experience and knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gu\u00e9delon has many features, but one of the most interesting is the medieval hydraulic<\/strong> flour mill<\/strong>. The mill, built in the old style, is in operation and supplies the site with flour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
